Vuka, previously known as Gather Monroe is a centralized austin wedding venue that gives it's visitors a backyard garden event feel. The large oak tree behind the venue gives off shade that is most appreciated during the scorching Texas summer weddings.

The inside of Vuka has high ceilings decorated with long banners, lighting fixutures that look like tangled tree branches, and a touch of an industrious feel to it. A space that already need little decoration to it, Kaylee and Preston elaborated on it's internal beauty and brought in lush greenery gold and glass accents and most importantly a room full of people that loved them dearly.

Preston had arrived at Vuka first so we started with is portraits in the moody upstairs lighting of the upper room. I asked Preseton, what he was most excited for, his response was "man, I'm just really looking forward to the party!" he said between laughter. Perhaps the only time I got this response to that question but Preston and Kaylee are probably the youngest couple I've photographed.
After we were done with Preston Kaylee came in full dressed ready for her portraits. I asked her the same question and to my suprise, her response was the exact same as Preston's, as if it was rehersed. Truly they found their match!

Truth be told, events began to run a little behind upon Kaylees arrival and we rushed into the first look. It's very normal for the pre-ceremony portion of a timeline to scramble for time. and as anxiety hightens before the first look, it never gets old seeing it melt like ice in the desert once the couples sees each other for the first time. Kaylee and Preston chose a private first look at the ceremony location under the oak tree. From that point we moved into what I believe are some of the best couples photos I've taken so far.
Discover my "why" and the heart behind why I take a curated approach to wedding photography
The only thing that separated them from a party in their honor was a ceremony. In the swift progression of events, the bouquet was forgotten. However, nothing seemed to be missing as Kaylee held on to her dad with love as they walked down the aisle towards Preseton.
I hadn't mentioned that Preston was a previous employee with Vuka. His coordinator was his old boss/ friend and taking shots together was coming full circle for them. Its usually not typical for me to share a blog heavy on the party but when the couple are two extroverts that know what they love, and my job is to paint a picture of who they are and tell their wedding story in a way that reflects them, then that means, it's all about the party for me too!
